Nueva Manteca is back in all its glory – a new, breathtaking band with a fresh, international lineup hailing from the Netherlands, Venezuela, Germany, and Uruguay. The renewed band kicked off with triumphant tours in Colombia (2018) and Israel (2019) – and during the lockdown, they embarked on an unplugged tour through parks in South Holland!
Nueva Manteca has performed at prestigious festivals, venues, and clubs worldwide, including the Montreal Jazz Fest, Barranquijazz, SOB’s (NYC), Curacao Jazz Fest, Yoshi’s (San Francisco), and many times at the North Sea Jazz Festival. Another highlight was a performance at Heineken Jazz in Puerto Rico alongside Paquito D’Rivera and Michel Camilo. Over the years, the band has featured famous guest musicians such as Armando Peraza, Giovanni Hidalgo, Orestes Vilató, and Claudio Roditi.
Nueva Manteca’s thirteenth album was released in 2022. ‘ART’ is a tribute to hard bop legend Art Blakey and to Jan L. Hartong, the founder of Nueva Manteca.
